Nowdays, primarily to not have to buy new work trousers due to my love of chocolate!
I am still vaguely goal-orientated however: I am slowly but surely working my way up to running a sub 1:30min half marathon as my previous PB is 1:32min.
I have been known in the past to dabble in long-distance events – IronMan distance triathlon, mountain-bike stage racing, ultra-marathons and adventure racing.
But knee surgery for a chronic ruptured ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) in combination with 2 very young children and very little time means I have to work on the discipline that needs the least time (and faff) to get fast.
Therefore I run!
My motto is ‘make your world your gym’.
